YOU HAVE NOW ENTERED THE DATA DIMENSION. WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY.
What Is Data Science, and How Can It Help People and Businesses?
Data science is a rapidly growing field of study, but what exactly is it, and what can use it for?
Data science is a science of finding answers to questions and then finding the data to support that answer. It also involves analyzing data to decipher trends. Think of when you had to analyze graphs in your math class at school. You can use that knowledge and apply that to the real world. The data that is collected is effectively useless unless one can interpret it - which is where data science comes into play.
But how, exactly? How can we apply data science to the real world? Well, you can use it to determine what consumers of a product seem to like more, or you can use it to help others. For example, if Apple sells several different colors of the iPhone 13, and one color is purchased by consumers more than the other two, that would indicate that Apple should start producing more iPhones with that color.
Additionally, data science can help out the real world. For example, I am in a nonprofit organization called CTD, where we collect e-waste (old phones, laptops, iPads, etc.). One thing that is crucial to us is marketing, and collecting data about the types of people who donate their e-waste, such as their age range, can help us determine the main people we should be marketing towards. This can also help companies find out who their target audience is for their products.
Data science is a very important field since it can help companies and others market the best way possible. It can help businesses exponentially improve their products and produce more efficiently. This can ultimately help drive better business decisions and boost revenue. It can also be used to share some interesting statistics. For example, did you know that Facebook users upload 10 million photos per hour?
To end this off, here's another interesting statistic - according to Forbes, 90% of the data in the world was generated within the last 5 years, the equivalent of 2.5 quintillion bytes of data per day.
YOU ARE NOW EXITING THE DATA DIMENSION. SEE YOU SOON!
